THE RIFF: One Of A Kind

One Of A Kind

Have you ever taken a moment to ponder the incredible uniqueness of each and every one of us?

It’s truly astonishing how two people, even those as close as siblings or best friends, can grow up side by side, sharing formative years, and yet emerge as individuals with distinct interests, passions, and knowledge.

This is one of the most remarkable aspects of humanity.

But here’s the exciting part: Your uniqueness is your greatest asset, especially when it comes to your music.

Even if there are others out there with superior music production skills, they can never replicate your exact ideas and compositions. They can never sound exactly like you.

You and your music will always be “one of a kind”.

And that uniqueness holds tremendous value for content creators searching for that special “something different” that only your music can provide.

Isn’t it mind blowing? No one else in the world can create music exactly like you!

And guess what? There are people out there who are not only willing but thrilled to pay for the privilege of using or listening to your distinctive creations.

It’s simply awe inspiring!

Ditching Templates

While templates can be useful for quickly creating new tracks, I have adopted a different approach in my music creation process. Instead, I prefer to delve into my catalog of Logic projects and find a track that closely aligns with the new piece I’m working on.

Once I locate a suitable track, I duplicate it and give it a new name. From there, I can remove the existing guitars and start fresh.

In my latest YouTube video, I walk you through the exact steps I take to accomplish this, all while ensuring that the project file sizes remain manageable to save space on your hard drive and avoid unnecessary duplication of unused sound files.

I encourage you to watch the video and see if it ignites any ideas for you. It might just help accelerate your progress or even spark new sources of inspiration.

Feel free to check it out and let me know what you think!

Riff Of The Week

This week, we’re diving into the iconic riff of “Foxy Lady” by the legendary Jimi Hendrix. 🦊🔥

Now, before the Jimi fans come at me, let me clarify.. I’m not claiming it’s his best riff, but it’s the riff of the week! 😉

During my recent holiday, my wife decided to blast some Jimi in the car, and this riff got stuck in my head (as it often does). It’s just so enjoyable and fun to play!

With this riff, you can let loose and get experimental, letting the rhythm take control. It’s all about the raw energy and groove, rather than chasing perfection.

That’s precisely what makes it such a perfect riff! It’s liberating and exhilarating.

Check out the video below to get a feel for it, and then grab your guitar and experience the joy of playing it yourself. Trust me, you’re in for a treat! 🎵🔥
