THE RIFF: Unleash Your Inner Rocker: The Journey to Releasing Your Own Music

Most Precious Rewards

When it comes to releasing music, many people envision the grandeur of big artists, prestigious awards, and global recognition.

While reaching that level is undoubtedly impressive (and if you ever get to that stage with your music then hats off to you! can you sort me out a ticket to the Awards!), the reality of releasing music is much more accessible and down-to-earth.

Everyday folks like you and me have the power to create and release our own music directly from the comfort of our living rooms, home studios, bedrooms, sheds, or wherever we find inspiration.

Sure, we might not have all the glitz and glamour of those big artist releases, but there’s something truly special about the little things that come with having your music out there.

Just imagine asking Alexa to play your music from Spotify and feeling a surge of pride.

Picture the heartfelt comments of praise on your YouTube channel, fueling your creative fire.

Experience the pure magic when a track of yours gets accepted onto a music library. It’s an indescribable feeling!

And when someone actually purchases your music from a library to use in their project, it’s a validation of your talent and hard work.

Don’t forget the joy of having your own music available for others to choose from on platforms like Instagram and TikTok. It’s incredible how your music can enhance someone’s content and create a unique connection.

But let me tell you, one of the most precious rewards of creating and releasing your own music is the friendships you form with fellow rock and metal music creators from all corners of the globe.

Through this shared passion, you’ll connect with like-minded individuals, forging bonds that transcend borders and time zones. These friendships are invaluable, and they’re something I’ve personally cherished throughout my musical journey.

If you’re someone who’s been contemplating getting started or simply have the desire to dip your toes into the world of music creation, now is the time to take that leap.

With just a few months of dedicating a few hours a week to your craft, you could be well on your way to releasing your own badass rock tracks online.

I genuinely want to assist you on this exciting journey, so don’t hesitate to hit the button below and ask any questions you may have.

Let’s work together to get your music out there, rocking the world.

Inspiring Music Samples

Rather than sharing a tip this week, I wanted to draw your attention to an incredible bundle offer: the LEVIATHAN ANTHOLOGY from Black Octopus.

I personally purchased the Leviathan packs 1, 2, and 3 some time ago and have since incorporated many of their samples into multiple tracks of my own. Samples have the power to elevate your music by adding another layer of depth, especially when used strategically and fearlessly in the mix.

While these samples may not have been originally designed for rock or metal, they offer a treasure trove of unique and captivating sounds. From otherworldly atmospheres to powerful subs and impacts, the Leviathan Anthology delivers an impressive range of possibilities.

I’ve been thoroughly satisfied with my purchase, which is why I’m excited to share this offer with you. Please note that this is not an affiliate link, and I won’t receive any commissions from it. I simply believe in the value and quality of the Leviathan Anthology.

Take a moment to explore this offer for yourself and see how it can enhance your music production.

Riff Of The Week

Blind – Korn

Continuing with our theme of simplicity from last week’s Nirvana riff, this week’s pick is a far more recognisable choice and remains simple yet incredibly powerful.

Blind, the signature riff of the band, starts with the unmistakable tapping on the ride cymbal, followed by the tantalizing guitars and bass as they gradually build up to the explosive riff that accompanies Jonathan Davis’ iconic words, “ARE YOU READY.”

The riff really showcases the distinct 7 string sound Korn is known for. The guitars are tuned down, creating a heavy and dark atmosphere that perfectly complements the aggressive nature of the riff.

I vividly remember the first time I heard this riff in a friend’s bedroom during a wild house party in the mid 90s. It left me completely awestruck, and my musical taste took yet another exciting turn towards this fresh and distinctive sound that I couldn’t get enough of.

I urge you to give it a listen and experience its raw energy for yourself.

Allow yourself to be influenced by this riff when creating future music tracks.  Don’t copy the riff of course, just let the energy take you away and feel the mood.

Then pick up the guitar and see what happens… hit record!
